The Ruth G. McMillan Cancer Center is nationally recognized and approved by the
Commission on Cancer.

Welcome to the Ruth McMillan Cancer Center, Department of Radiation Oncology at Greene Memorial Hospital. We have served Greene County residents for the last decade here in the cancer center along with outpatient and inpatient medical oncology services and surgical oncology services.

The department of Radiation Oncology is staffed by Justin Mills, M.D., Board Certified in Radiation Oncology as well as special technicians that develop and monitor an individualized treatment plan for each patient. The team consists of a Medical Physicist, Dosimetrist, Radiation Therapist and a Registered Nurse. While most of our patients are provided care on an out-patient basis, we do also provide care to patients while hospitalized at GMH for both palliative and curative treatment of adults.

Radiation therapy or traditional external beam therapy is delivered by a linear accelerator and while we provide traditional external beam therapy we also have advanced capabilities of treatment by special technology and advancements to the linear accelerator called IMRT or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy. IMRT optimizes the possibilities of treating more tumors with increased accuracy and with a more intensive dose of radiation to the tumor with less toxicity or side effect to surrounding tissues or organs. IMRT technology may allow us to deliver radiation therapy to a tumor that would otherwise have been unapproachable by using 3-dimensional imagery and computerized treatment planning.

Within our Radiation Oncology Department we have the capability to offer you not only specialized therapy, but multidisciplinary services for all of your cancer care needs. Not only have we serviced the Greene County area, but have covered referrals from oncology physicians and surgeons from areas from southwestern Ohio including Dayton and Columbus. The Cancer Care Team at GMH also has the capability to offer Radiotherapy Clinical Trials to those patients that may qualify for an available study.

The Cancer Care Team including the staff of Radiation Oncology welcome you and your questions about treatment or the Cancer Center in general. Please feel free to contact us via our website at www.greenehealth.org or call Terri VanZant, R.N. Oncology Services Manager at 352-2142.
